Mount Williamson

Mount Williamson (14,375 ft / 4 382 m) is the second highest peak in California. It is located north of Mount Whitney and west of the town of Independence. It is usually accessed via the Shepherds Pass Trial. The most commonly climbed route is the West Face, which is the route we used. It requires a short pitch of class 3 rock and a considerable amount of cross country travel. We needed crampons and an ice axe on our trip in early June.
