Venerable Master Hsing Yun's One Stroke Calligraphy was exhibited at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing from May 9 to May 15, 2010. On May 11, 2010 Venerable Hsing Yun came to Beijing for the opening ceremony. Later that day Venerable Hsing Yun talked at the National Art Research Institute of China. It was good to see other Foguang Shan venerables at the exhibition as well, including Venerable Miao Shi from Da Jue Si, Venerable Hui Kuan from Haiqing Temple, and Venerable Jue Fang now studying at Beijing University. The two events were incredible and many high level Chinese offiicals were there. Venerable Hsing Yun has become a highly visible and highly respected figure in mainland China. All the Foguang Shan venerables and volunteers worked hard to make these large and significant events happen.

At the opening ceremony I saw Venerable Guang Pu from Xiamen. It was a wonderful surprise to see Venerable Guang Pu in Beijing. She had come to Beijing on her way back from Yu Shu, Qinghai where she was organizing volunteer work from the earthquake. Happily, I also met some new friends from Xiamen that was also on route back from Yu Shu: Venerable Chuan Xi from Zhunti Temple and Xu Hua, who works full time at One Heart Volunteer Service Center. Also, I met some new friends that live in Beijing: Professor Yu Jing from the National Art Research Institute and Zhao Zhongliang.

Venerable Guang Pu gave a presentation on relief work at the earthquake site in Yu Shu, Qinghai to a sociology class at Renmin University, Beijing. If you see an improvement in my photography it is because Zhao Zhongliang used my camera to take photos during the seminar.
